
Description
- Plastra is a pain relief patch for external use; it contains extract of capsicum which is effective in relieving rheumatism, also effective for muscular fatigue, lumbago, back pain and stiff shoulders.
Capsicum plasters mechanism of action
- The active ingredient Capsicinoid relaxes the muscles by increasing the blood flow, increasing the transport of oxygen and nutrients to the cells and accelerating removal of metabolic by-products.
- It also acts as an efficacious pain blocker due to depleting and preventing re-accumulation of the neurotransmitter Substance P.

Indications
- Capsicum Plaster is used as a counter-irritant and to produce heat on undamaged skin. It is used in the treatment of Rheumatic conditions.
- Also used for temporary relief of minor aches, pains of muscles and joints associated with simple backache, arthritis, strains, bruises and sprains.
Contraindications
- Allergy to any of the plaster ingredients.
- Do not apply on broken skin, wounds or eczema.
- Pregnant women and patients wearing heart pacemaker are banned from using the product.

Precautions
- Use only as directed; for external use only.
- Discontinue use at least one hour before a bath and do not use immediately after a bath.
- Do not apply the plaster near the eyes, mouth, tongue or lips.
- It is recommended not to scratch the application site to avoid damage to the skin.
- Avoid application of additional sources of heat during treatment. Treatment should be discontinued if excessive warmth is experienced.

- In more serious cases when your condition is accompanied by reddening, swelling or a feeling of high temperature of the joints,
- If you have severe back pain radiating into the legs and/or associated with neurological syndromes (e.g. numbness, tingling).
- When taking other medicines.
- In conditions affecting children under 12 years of age, use only upon the advice of a physician.

USE
- Clean and dry the skin, Remove the plastic backing from one side of the patch.
- Smooth that side over the area where you want pain relief.
- As you remove the other half of the plastic backing, smooth the remainder of the patch over the pain area.
- When removing the plaster from skin, pulling and removing the whole at once lessens the pain felt.
